One of the reasons I love living in upstate NY (and being retired of course) is because I live really close to Watkins Glen State Park. It’s only about a 30 minute drive from our cottage on Seneca Lake.
The beauty of the Glen is a must see. The gorge is amazing! The trail has beautiful waterfalls (one that you will walk under), gorges, streams and overlooks.
The gorge is 1.5 miles long with 832 stone steps. Our visit this summer was absolutely beautiful with all the greenery due to a rainy June. You may get wet with some or many drops of water depending on the time of year and rainfall.
But if you get a chance to go this fall the colors of the trees will be magnificent.
There are a couple of ways you can experience the Watkins Glen. You can choose to either, walk to the top, take a bus, or walk the Indian trail which is a path with less steps. Whether you choose to hike the entire gorge or take a few steps, the view and experience is worth the trip.
The pictures are great but seeing the gorge and its beauty in person is amazing.
